The Chicago Cubs just won the World Series. It was epic, incredible, unbelievable. It took an extra-innings rally. The 112th World Series will go down among the best ever.

One hundred eight years of misery. Forget the billy goat. Forget Bartman.

The Cubs beat the Indians, 8-7, in a 10 inning game.

With that victory — yes, the following words are really true — the Chicago Cubs won the World Series.

It did not come easy and had plenty of extra drama. The Cubs led 6-3 in the top of the eighth inning, just six outs away from victory. But a double and a two-run home run wiped out their lead and tied the game.

Then the rain came. Of course.

The game was delayed for about 15 minutes. But then the Cubs scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th to get the cushion they needed.

Oh yes, the Cubs have won the World Series before. This is their third World Series title. But this may be the hardest-earned championship in the history of American sports. And do not forget, the Cubs trailed in the series by three games to one.

Chicagoans have waited more than a century for this night. Cubs fans everywhere are now singing, "Go Cubs Go."
