Chicago Cubs Win!!!

Posted

There is joy in Wrigleyville. The Chicago Cubs kept their hopes of winning a World Series title alive by defeating the Cleveland Indians last night. The final score was 3-2.

The Indians scored first. Jose Ramirez hit a home run in the second inning. The Cubs scored three runs in the fourth inning and that was all they needed.

In the eight inning it looked like Cleveland might come back. Rajai Davis reached first and then stole second and third base. Davis scored Cleveland's second run in the sixth inning after stealing second base. But the eighth inning ended with a called strike three against Francisco Lindor.

The Cubs are fighting against history. No team has come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the World Series since Kansas City did it in 1985. No team has come back from being down 3-1 on the road since Pittsburgh did that in 1979.

But no team has waited so long to even get a chance to win the World Series. The Cubs have been waiting since 1945.

The Cubs have reason to be optimistic. They will have Jake Arrieta on the mound. Arrieta pitched a no-hitter as far as the sixth inning in Game 2.

Josh Tomlin will pitch for the Indians. He started Game 3 which Cleveland won.
