Take Control of Your Money for Renters (Online)

Money management, renters’ rights, eviction prevention, and more! Offered via Zoom by a team of UF/IFAS Extension Agents, including Orange County Extension Agent Jenny Rodriguez, this class is for residents looking for income-based assistance programs or anyone wanting to become a more savvy renter.

Efficient Irrigation - Winter Garden Library (In Person)

Keep your lawn and landscape healthy without hurting the environment by carefully managing your irrigation. Join Orange County Extension Agent Clarissa Chairez to learn how to properly adjust your irrigation to balance your yard’s need for water with Florida’s need for water conservation. We will also discuss types of micro irrigation, including drip, micro sprays, and bubblers. Attendees will receive a complimentary rain gauge provided by Orange County Utilities.

MED Instead of Meds – 6-Week Program (In Person)

Interested in starting the Mediterranean Diet but not sure where to start? Presented by Orange County Extension Agent Hillary Ayers, the MED Instead of Meds series of classes will help you go MED by exploring simple steps to eating the MED way. Learn tips, life hacks, and recipes that will help you eat the MED way every day.

gARTening Series: Decoupage and Tea Party (In Person)

In this class, presented by Orange County Extension Agent Clarissa Chairez, students will learn how to decoupage a 6-inch garden pot with decorative paper and learn how to care for various herbs, how to preserve the herbs to brew tea, and the health benefits of them! If you have specific scrapbook paper or material, you’d like to use. Please feel free to bring it with you. Each student will receive a 6-inch pot to decorate, a mint plant, and a loose-leaf tea diffuser. Dust off your best tea party hat and join us for this unique educational and garden + art activity! Kids 12 and under are welcomed and encouraged to join!

Adopt-A-Tree (In Person) 

Join our UF/IFAS Extension Master Gardener Volunteers at Fort Christmas Historical Park, located at 1300 N Fort Christmas Rd., for our Adopt-A-Tree event! Open to all Orange County residents with proof of residency such as a driver’s license, utility bill, or photo I.D. Each household is eligible to receive two trees, and the trees may be planted on the resident’s private property only. Trees are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and varieties will vary based on availability, but all will be suitable to flourish in Zone 9B.  
Saturday, July 15, 2023, 8:00am-12:00pm or until trees are gone, whichever comes first.  No pre-registration or fee to participate. 407-254-9200.

Backyard Chicken Class (Online)

Keeping chickens and producing your own eggs in suburban and urban settings has become a popular hobby! Hens in a coop can be a fun and practical addition to your home garden. Learn how to get started and be successful in this program presented via TEAMS by Orange County Extension Agent JK Yarborough.

Limited Certification Pesticide Applicator Licenses - Review & CEUs (Online)

Exam Review & CEUs for the Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance Pesticide License (LCLM) & Limited Lawn and Ornamental Pesticide License (LLO). Presented by Orange County Extension Agent Hannah Wooten along with other UF/IFAS Extension Agents, this class provides 6 hours of FDACS-approved training necessary to obtain the LCLM Certification and provides a review for the LLO Certification.

Diabetes Prevention Program (Online)

Take charge of your life and register for this research-based lifestyle change program for preventing diabetes. Online group sessions are led by a Certified Diabetes Educator and a Certified Personal Trainer. Weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly meetings. Must be 18 years or older, diagnosed pre-diabetic, Hemoglobin A1C between 5.7-6.4, family history of diabetes, history of gestational diabetes, and overweight (BMI greater than/equal to 25).

First Time Homebuyer Workshop - ENGLISH (Online)

Learn the steps to home ownership and how to obtain an affordable mortgage in this class offered via Zoom in ENGLISH by a team of UF/IFAS Extension Agents, including Orange County Extension Agent Jenny Rodriguez. The homebuyer workshop meets the education requirements for down payment assistance programs.
