Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a multiple-vehicle collision on Interstate 4 in Seminole County yesterday that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 3 pm on October 19th, a sedan driven by a 48-year-old Apopka man, a second sedan driven by a 52-year-old Longwood woman, and a pickup truck driven by a 70-year-old North Carolina man was stopped on the eastbound Interstate 4 exit ramp at State Road 436.
A fourth vehicle, a sedan driven by a 73-year-old Groveland woman, failed to stop for the traffic on the ramp, striking the rear of the Apopka driver's vehicle, which was pushed forward and struck the second sedan, and in turn, was pushed forward striking the pickup.
The Groveland woman was in cardiac arrest at the scene, and efforts were made to revive her; however, she was pronounced deceased upon arrival at Altamonte Hospital.
The Apopka man reported minor injuries to the FHP. No other injuries were reported, according to the FHP.
The FHP did not release the names of the deceased woman or the other drivers involved in the crash.
