An Apopka man avoided injury when a Chevy Suburban crashed into the back of his tractor-trailer on Interstate 4 in Seminole County this morning as he sat still in traffic. Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the two-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of the Suburban driver.
According to the FHP incident report, at approximately 6:45 am, a tractor-trailer driven by a 38-year-old Apopka man was stopped on eastbound Interstate 4 just east of CR-46A for traffic ahead.
At the same time, a Chevy Suburban driven by a 36-year-old Orlando man was traveling eastbound on Interstate 4 and failed to observe the stopped traffic ahead.
The left front of the Suburban struck the right rear of the tractor-trailer. The driver of the Suburban was pronounced deceased at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.
Eastbound Interstate 4 remained closed until 9:54 am for this fatal crash investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of either driver in the collision.
