Goodwill launches "Hurricane Ian Relief Roundup" at all Central Florida stores

Posted

Hurricane Ian was one of the most impactful and powerful storms in history after its onslaught on Southwest Florida. It made landfall in the Fort Myers area as a Category 4 hurricane, with 150-mph winds pushing ashore untold floodwaters from the Gulf of Mexico that tore through homes and businesses along the coast.

While it may still take days, weeks, or even months to get a full picture of the destruction Hurricane Ian left in its path across Florida’s peninsula, Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) stands ready to help.

Starting Monday (October 10th), the nonprofit will host a special roundup campaign at all 31 retail stores across Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, and Brevard counties. Shoppers will have the opportunity to round up their purchase to the next dollar at checkout and know that 100% of the extra funds will help our neighbors in Southwest Florida, specifically employees of Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida who lost everything in the storm.

Every sale at Goodwill supports the community through job creation and helping our neighbors achieve their goals. And now, the nonprofit wants to extend that goodwill and help its Southwest Florida partners get back on their feet.

GICF’s “Hurricane Ian Relief Roundup” begins Monday, October 10th, and will conclude when stores close on Monday, October 24. Goodwill Industries of Central Florida will also match the amount raised through the “roundup.”
