Developing Story: Apopka police name suspect in auto burglary and collision that killed 7-year-old child

Charges him with Burglary, Felony Murder and Vehicular Homicide

The Apopka Police Department, in a statement released this afternoon, named the suspect who allegedly stole a vehicle, fled the scene, and crashed into another vehicle, killing a seven-year-old in Apopka this morning.

The APD statement reads:

"At approximately 8:09 this morning a vehicle being driven by Marcus Antone Williams, was observed committing a burglary to a vehicle in the Mainline Subdivision.  When confronted by the vehicle owner, Williams fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

He  was observed driving recklessly at an approximate speed of 80mph on a 30-mph residential street. At the intersection of North Maine Avenue and Summit Street, Williams’ vehicle struck a vehicle occupied by one adult and two juveniles resulting in the death of a seven-year-old child. 

Williams is pending surgery for injuries incurred during the accident. Williams has an extensive violent offender history." 

After completing its investigation, the APD obtained a warrant for Williams’ arrest on the following charges: 

  • Burglary Unoccupied Conveyance FSS 810.02(4)(B) -F3 
  • Felony Murder FSS 782.04(2)E - F1 
  • Vehicular Homicide FSS 782.071(1)(A) -F2  
  • DWLS Causing Death FSS 322.34(6)(b) -F3
