Over 60,000 cubic yards of debris cleared in 17 days

Posted

Entering day 18 of activation, Orange County Public Work’s crews and contractors have removed more than 60,000 cubic yards of debris. The majority of debris is made up of vegetation and construction materials.

Within hours of Hurricane Ian exiting Orange County, teams from Public Works were on the ground assessing damage and beginning to remove debris from County maintained streets and roads.

The Public Works Department activated the County’s debris removal efforts on October 3rd, and focused on the removal of debris from the County right of way and neighborhoods, which were identified as significantly impacted in each of the six commission districts.

Crews will continue to work 12 hours a day, seven days a week to clear debris and meet the needs of Orange County residents. Contractors will continue to survey the County daily to ensure all needed cleanup is scheduled and completed.
