Breaking News: Two Orange County residents die in Hurricane Nicole-related incident

The Orange County Sheriff's Office announced that two people died after coming in contact with a downed power line early Thursday. According to the OCSO, the incident occurred at Bayfront Parkway and Pershing Avenue in Orlando but did not provide further details.

"We hate to bring you this tragic news, but two people died after they were electrocuted by a downed power line at Bayfront Pkwy & Pershing Ave early today," the OCSO said on its Twitter page. "Never touch a downed power line. If you see one, call 911 so OCSO & our partners can address the danger."

The OCSO did not release the names of the two deceased residents.

Orange County is issuing a precautionary lake advisory due to Hurricane Nicole.  Keep boats at idle speed and be cautious of submerged and floating structures. The purpose of this advisory is to protect public health and property. Contact Lakes@ocfl.net for more information.

BOAT RAMPS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

All public boat ramps under the control of Orange County are currently closed. Please refrain from any recreational activity in the waters and refrain from any contact with water bodies until further notice. Once the storm passes, the ramps will remain closed until Orange County Parks and Recreation Division conducts an evaluation for each ramp. Contact Parks@ocfl.net for more information.

GREEN PLACE CLOSURES

All County-operated Green PLACE properties are currently closed. Once the storm passes, the Orange County Environmental Protection Division will evaluate each property for reopening. Contact  GreenPLACE@ocfl.net for more information.
