Apopka Police Department Burglary Report: June 11th-17th

Posted

The Apopka Burglary Report for June 11th-17th shows four burglaries reported in Apopka.

Here are a few tips  to protect against home burglaries:

  • Make your home look occupied, and make it difficult to break in.
  • Lock all outside doors and windows before leaving or going to bed.
  • Keep your garage door closed and locked.
  • Don't allow daily deliveries of mail, newspapers, or flyers to build up while you are away. Arrange with the Post Office to hold your mail, or arrange for a friend or neighbor to take them regularly.
  • Arrange your lawn to be mowed if you are going away for an extended time.
  • Check your locks on doors and windows and replace them with secure devices as necessary.
  • Pushbutton locks on doorknobs are easy for burglars to open. Install deadbolt locks on all your outside doors.
  • Sliding glass doors are vulnerable. Special locks are available for better security.
  • Other windows may need better locks. Check with a locksmith or hardware store for alternatives.
  • Don't share your vacation plans on social media.

Chief Michael McKinley of the Apopka Police Department tells us that many vehicle burglaries could have been prevented if everyone remembered to do just two things:

  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle
  • Lock your car doors

I was looking at the Apopka Critic website and saw that porch photo of that guy going around RSR supposedly doing Duke Energy surveys, but had no IDs or uniform, and residents said BEWARE. I showed the photo to my husband, and he told me he looks like the same guy that stopped him when he went up our street to look our mailbox, and that guy wanted to get up on our roof to supposedly inspect our roof! My husband told him no. My husband said he then talked on, and said he could get our insurance to replace our roof really fast, without the red tape. Yeah, I bet! BEWARE, BEWARE, my husband thinks he is the same guy as in that photo I showed him. I never did see him, as I was in the house. Just wanted everyone to be aware he might use different tactics other than Duke Energy when casing the neighborhoods!
