Apopka Fire Department begins its hiring campaign

After adding 18 firefighters to the 22/23 budget, the hiring begins

In its 2022/23 budget, the Apopka City Council approved 18 additional firefighters, a training officer, a health and safety officer, and a quality assurance officer while also retrofitting the current fire stations. The upgrades in personnel and to the stations cost approximately $1.2 million.
 
Now, in the first week of the new budget cycle, the recruiting has begun with a post on the Apopka Fire Department Facebook page calling for new hires.

The Apopka Fire Department is currently seeking qualified and, most importantly, dedicated Firefighters to join our team.

To be considered in this hiring round, applicants must complete a department online application www.apopka.net/ApplyOnline, and submit copies of the following: State of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training certificate of completion, current State of Florida Department of Health Paramedic or EMT license, current BLS and/or ACLS certificates, and 16-hour emergency vehicle operations certificate.

First-year 162 hours
324 hours every year plus an additional 24 hours for every five years of service.
