Webster introduces supply chain initiative in Congress

Posted

Rep. Daniel Webster of the Florida 11th congressional district (which includes Apopka), announced in his Monday newsletter "The Webster Wire", that he introduced the Federal Infrastructure Bank Act of 2022.

In the post, he writes:

"On Wednesday, (February 1st), the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held their first hearing of the 118th Congress. The hearing focused on the state of our infrastructure and supply chain issues. We heard from infrastructure stakeholders about challenges they’re facing in their respective industries. No matter the industry, stakeholders echoed the same message; inflation, supply chain disruptions, and overbearing regulations are all having an impact on our supply chain.

A strong and resilient infrastructure is an important economic engine for our country. As a member of the committee, modernizing and improving our infrastructure to help alleviate supply chain issues is one of my priorities. Last week, I introduced the Federal Infrastructure Bank Act of 2022 . The bank will compliment, not replace, existing programs and encourages states, municipalities and other entities to pursue all available funding sources."

This would help finance surface transportation projects, ports, electric grid security, broadband connectivity the revitalization of Main Street USA, and more. Project eligibility is broad as the bill does not authorize the bank to use federal taxpayer dollars."

Webster has represented the FL-11th since 2017. This is the first term that FL-11 also includes Apopka. He first entered Congress in 2011. He represented Florida's 10th congressional district from 2011 to 2017.
