Football is back!
Yes high school football returns this weekend with both the Apopka Blue Darters and Wekiva Mustangs ranked in the top 10 of two state polls. The Blue Darters, coming off an 8-4 2018 campaign, are ranked #10 in the MaxPreps poll of Class 8A schools. They travel to Miami Saturday night to take on the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes in their pre-season kickoff classic. The Tornadoes, a Class 4A High School, finished 5-6 last season.
The Wekiva Mustangs finished last season with an impressive 11-2 record, are ranked #7 in the Class 7A MaxPreps poll. They travel to Deland tonight to face the Deland Bulldogs in their preseason game. The Bulldogs finished 8-3 in 2018.
In their regular season openers next week, both the Blue Darters and Mustangs remain on the road. Apopka travels to Orlando to take on the Jones Tigers, while Wekiva heads to Winter Park to face the Winter Park Wildcats.
