Apopka High Bowling Team Competes at Nationals

Kieth Horton and Nick Moyer made it to the round of 16, but the cumulative scores kept them from making it to the Round of 8...

The team competition is tomorrow. The Round 4 results (below), make it clear that there are two very strong teams at the Nationals:

UPDATE #3:

Kieth Horton, Nick Moyer and Gage Stelling all "survived" Survivor Round #1! They are now competing in Survivor Round #2 against the top 27 High School Bowlers in the Nation!

UPDATE #1:

The qualifying round is complete. All bowlers played 4 games of regular bowling, moving lanes after each game. The top half (54 Bowlers) with the highest four-game total pinfall in each division advanced to Survivor Round 1, which starts at 1:15 PM.

Three Apopka Bowlers have qualified for Survivor Round 1: Kieth Horton, Nick Moyer, and Gage Stelling.

The Apopka High School Boys Varsity Bowling Team competes today and tomorrow at the inaugural US High School Nationals in south Florida.

The Apopka bowling team has won the FHSAA State Championship for the last three years.

The U.S. High School Bowling Foundation is hosting the 2016 U.S. High School Bowling National Championship in Greater Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. This innaugural post-season event was created to showcase the best boys and girls high school bowlers from across the country and to promote the importance and growth of high school bowling across the United States!

The 2016 U.S. High School Bowling National Championship is a two-day competition featuring both "Singles" and "Team" events in both Boys and Girls divisions.

On Day 1 all bowlers will be competing in the "Singles" event in their respective divisions. On Day 2, all high school teams will be competing in the "Team" event, also in their respective divisions..

The competition is a USBC Certified tournament. The format of "Singles" event and "Team" event will each consist of a qualifying round, leading into the "Survivor" elimination rounds.. The "Survivor" elimination format was specifically designed to provide maximum opportunity for more bowlers to advance further during each day's competition.
