Apopka firefighters still assisting in Hurricane Michael aftermath

Hurricane Season 2018

From the Apopka Fire Department

Apopka Firefighters Jason Watson and Matt Roney along with an Apopka ambulance, have been deployed to the Florida Panhandle since the day Hurricane Michael made landfall last week. They are part of the state's ambulance strike team 501 comprised of several Central Florida agencies. Our crew is fine but the stories we're hearing from them are absolutely heartbreaking. The damage is unimaginable. They've been working in the areas between Apalachicola, Port St. Joe and Mexico Beach transporting residents to hospitals, delivering supplies, assisting in the towns that are damaged or just being a helping hand to residents that have lost everything. Residents with nothing left are actually offering up food, drinks, and clothing to the rescuers themselves.

"These people up here are resilient, and will make a full comeback, they just need a helping hand and someone to talk to right now", according to our crew.

Please keep the people of North Florida and all states affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers along with all the first responders who are assisting.
